We depend on volunteers for our soup kitchen and our thrift store. Complete the form and we will be in touch! Our current volunteer needs are listed within the checkbox of each role listed below.
Descriptions
Soup Kitchen Volunteer
Kitchen volunteers will prep, cook and serve our 11:30-12:45 meal service. Volunteer shifts are 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
Volunteer Groups are limited to 4 people and individual volunteers will be combined with another group of 3 or less. All volunteers must be 18 and have read, signed and submitted one of our volunteer agreements.
Our volunteers are supported by one of our experienced staff members throughout their shift. All food is stocked and prepared on sight.
Donation Pick Up
Using our small transport van, donation pick-up volunteers will pick up food donations at specific retailer partners across Rocky Mount. Volunteer shifts are 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Opportunities are available 7 days a week.
All volunteers must be 25, with a good driving record and have read, signed and submitted one of our Commercial Driver Questionnaires.
Cleaning Support Volunteer
Cleaning support volunteers will assist with daily opening and closing cleaning tasks like sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, cleaning windows, loading / unloading and stocking shelves. Volunteer shifts are 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Opportunities are available 7 days a week.
All volunteers must be 18 and have read, signed and submitted one of our volunteer agreements. Minimum age exceptions are available by calling 540-482-0775.
Thrift Store Volunteer
Joanne’s Treasures thrift store is located below and behind our soup kitchen. Proceeds from the store benefit our soup kitchen. Volunteer needs vary from cashier to merchandising. Volunteer shifts are 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM Fridays and Saturdays.
All volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.
Dining Room Support
Dining room support volunteers will assist with greeting patrons upon entry and ensuring each signs in at our welcome podium. Volunteer shifts are 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM. Opportunities are available 7 days a week.
